The School was established in 1999 as a response to the
call for stronger vocational education. Its mission is to train
professionals urgently needed in production, construction, management,
and service sectors. The School offers five 4-year undergraduate
programs in accounting, marketing, tourism management, trade and
computer in addition to nine 3-year programs in accounting,
hospitality, exhibition, and related fields.The School uses student-centered teaching methods.
Careful planning has been carried out to better match the teaching
contents, methods, media and modes with the students’ vocational skill
development. The fact that Hospitality and Marketing are acclaimed as
the Model Programs of Chongqing Vocational Schools attests to the
School’s achievements.
The School boasts 10 hands-on labs for accounting,
marketing, chain operations, software engineering, business etiquette,
and more. The School has set up internship bases in more than forty
large and medium sized enterprises. Cooperation between academic
faculty and enterprises personnel includes jointly running School
programs, which not only ensures employment but diversifies the
teaching modes and improves such things as training personnel on
businesses’ request and work-based learning.
The School benefits from good international links. In
April, 2006, the School signed an agreement with the Australia
Southbank Institute of TAFE. On Jan. 12, 2007, the school was appointed
by the Chongqing Education Commission as the trial-site school for the
C-TAFE Program.
The School creates a distinctive environment which highlights
vocational education designed to develop students’ innovation and
practical skills. Students may attain these goals through a wide range
of programs, including Applied Techniques Festivals, Debate Contests,
Marketing Contests, English Speaking Contests, Chinese Speaking
Contests, Business Start-Up Contests, and Professional Skills Contests.
