Recently, Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects was officially released. Three disciplines of Chongqing Technology and Business University(CTBU), i.e., Business Administration, Chemical Engineering and Technology, Electronic Science and Technology, are ranked in the top 400, 300 and 500 of the world’s first-class disciplines respectively.
Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects
First released in 2009, Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) covers 55 subjects in the five major fields of Science, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medicine, and Social Sciences. The ranking adopts objective academic indicators which are comparable internationally, including international academic awards(Award), research output(Q1), research quality(TOP), international collaboration (IC), etc. Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects is aimed at more than 5,000 universities around the world, with a total of more than 1,900 universities from about 104 countries and regions have finally been on the list of various disciplines.
Chemical Engineering and Technology
Adhering to the national strategies of green development and dual carbon goal, the Chemical Engineering and Technology of CTBU aims to build a characteristic discipline with obvious advantages and good social reputation. It was set up as an undergraduate major in 1989 and was approved as a master’s program in 2014. It belongs to the specialty group of Chongqing Characteristic Disciplines in Environmental and Resource Chemistry. Moreover, in 2020, Chemistry and Engineering entered the top 1% of ESI global universities and scientific research institutions. In 2017 and 2021, it was approved as the municipal key disciplines during the 13th and 14th Five-Year Plan period. In 2021, 2022 and 2023, it has successively entered the top 300 world first-class disciplines of GRAS.
Business Administration
With the vision of “striving for a leading Business Administration discipline in western China”, Business Administration was established as an undergraduate major at CBTU in 1981 and was approved as a master’s program in 2003. Apart from this, it was approved as a municipal first-class discipline in 2017 and 2023, with the fourth discipline evaluation being B-, and the fifth being the top 20%-30% in China, ranking second in Chongqing. In 2022 Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, the discipline ranked 65th in China (up 9 places from 2021). In 2023, it ranked in the top 400 of the world first-class disciplines.
Electronic Science and Technology
The discipline of Electronic Science and Technology of CTBU focuses on new generation of intelligent information technology, striving to build an “intelligent, engineering, characteristic” top-tier discipline. In 1982, CTBU established the undergraduate major of Electronic Information Engineering. In 2018, it was approved as the Chongqing feature major in big data intelligent discipline. In 2021, it was approved as master’s degree authorization point of Electronic Information and expanded to the field of new generation electronic information technology (including quantum technology). In 2023, it ranked in the top 500 of the world first-class disciplines.
