CTBU was recently approved by the the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Security and the National Post-doctoral Management Committee as one of the post-doctoral research centers in applied economics and the first university to have such a center among the Chongqing municipal universities. 

CTBU has Ph.D program in applied economics on the special program of Secure Dwelling and Becoming Rich of Three Gorges Reservoir Resettlement Inhabitants.
